The meeting in Thisted took place from the 17.04.18 to the 21.04.18. The aim of the meeting was the development of innovative teaching modules with the topic “Sustainability” the production of Biohydrogen made out of bio waste and energy production in a microbial fuel cell. Hydrogen could be an important future energy source since it can be stored and transported. Together we translated the background information and made animations for visualizing the topic. Our main objective was the development and preparation of both biotechnological experiments in English and their translation into the mother tongues of the participating schools. During the meeting in Vienna in November we test both experiments concerning their implementation in class.
After our hosts introduced the project team to all teachers and students of Thisted Gymnasium on Wednesday morning, we started the project work. In connection with our project topic we visited a windmill research center on Friday. The tallest windmill in this center produces 9.5 mW. Furthermore we visited a bunker construction which was built for strategic control of the Skargarrak entrance during the second world war. Our hosts also offered us sport activities in the wonderful nature of Denmark by giving us the possibility to choose between stand-up paddling, mountain biking or hiking which all took place in the nearby Thy national park.
After the farewell dinner at the school we said goodbye to our friends and started our trip back home on Saturday morning.
